Accountant – Finance & Accounting Team

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Accountant to join our client’s finance and accounting team in Germany. The role involves maintaining accurate records, supporting financial planning and ensuring compliance with German accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping in line with German GAAP (HGB).
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger balances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare VAT returns.
• Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Monitor transactions and identify discrepancies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Accountant or Bookkeeper.
• Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Fluent German; English is a plus.
• Professional certification such as Bilanzbuchhalter is an advantage.

• DATEV accounting software.
• SAP (or similar ERP) systems.
