Alpha Plant Systems Lead

About the role

Proxima Fusion is building the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. As the Alpha Plant Systems Lead you will own the design, integration and delivery of all ancillary systems for the Alpha machine, ensuring they work together to achieve net energy gain.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive system‑level architecture for tritium fuel cycle, high‑voltage power, heating, cryogenic and non‑cryogenic cooling, and waste‑water treatment.
• Design and implement piping, distribution networks and critical infrastructure that connect all subsystems to the stellarator.
• Lead cross‑functional teams and coordinate external contractors to translate design requirements into physical hardware.
• Resolve complex trade‑offs across plasma physics, magnet technology, cryogenics, manufacturing and controls.
• Ensure timely delivery of major ancillary components while maintaining safety and performance standards.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on technical judgement in large‑scale, tightly coupled engineering projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in high‑technology environments.
• Ability to make impactful design decisions and take full ownership of system complexity.
