Chief of Staff – Systems Architecture

About the role

Proxima Fusion is building the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. As Chief of Staff for Systems Architecture you will partner with the Chief Scientist to shape the overall architecture, drive system‑level decisions, and ensure seamless integration across physics, engineering, and manufacturing disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the system‑level architecture for the Alpha and Stellaris stellarators.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (plasma physics, magnets, cryogenics, controls, manufacturing) to resolve trade‑offs and deliver integrated solutions.
• Translate strategic goals into concrete technical requirements and top‑level specifications.
• Prepare board reports, strategy off‑sites, and stakeholder communications.
• Guide external collaborations and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering projects.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make high‑impact system decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with senior leadership and external partners.
• Track record of delivering hardware projects on schedule and budget.
