Design Engineer – Fire Protection Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our fire protection team in Dresden, Germany. The role focuses on designing and laying out fire protection systems for complex construction projects across sectors such as data centres, life sciences and hyperscale facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and layout fire protection systems to meet LPC, NFPA, FM and VdS criteria.
• Perform sprinkler design, including hydraulic calculations, shop drawing preparation and 3D model coordination.
• Prepare project deliverables such as 2‑D fire classification block plans and schematics.
• Produce detailed fire protection schematics (sprinkler, foam, gas, mist, inert gas, special hazard).
• Liaise with client teams and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Create installation, construction and fabrication drawings.
• Attend technical and project meetings on‑site and via Teams.
• Assist in preparing tender and construction documentation and close out project items.
• Review lessons learned and ensure BIM models are delivered to LOD 200‑400.

Required profile

• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Full EU driving licence and ability to travel.
• Competent knowledge of applicable fire protection standards.
• Experience reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
• Proven experience on European projects.
• Good interpersonal and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (MEP).
• Experience with 3‑D hydraulic design software (e.g., AutoSPRINK or similar).
• Ability to produce BIM models (LOD 200‑400).
• Knowledge of hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
