Design Manager – Data Centre Projects

About the role

John Paul Construction is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design delivery of Data Centre projects. You will work closely with site teams, architects, engineers and utility providers to ensure seamless coordination and execution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project setting‑out with focus on coordinating architectural and engineering information.
• Coordinate utilities and services between mechanical/electrical engineers and utility providers.
• Prepare and maintain the schedule of information requirements and forward updates to architects/engineers.
• Monitor the information schedule and report progress and issues to the Project/Site Manager.
• Oversee the technical submittal process for all project components, maintaining a tracking system aligned with the contract programme.
• Track technical submittals, advise on progress and resolve arising problems.
• Maintain a procurement tracking schedule based on approved submittals and cost approvals.
• Promptly handle all contract queries, ensuring they are recorded efficiently.

Required profile

• 10+ years’ experience as a Design Manager on Data Centre projects.
• Relevant third‑level qualification in Engineering or Architecture.
• Previous main‑contractor experience is desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational/planning abilities.
• Self‑management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
• Effective communication with colleagues and clients.
