Field Quality & Regulatory Engineer (Munich)

About the role

The Field Quality & Regulatory Engineer will lead field quality initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance for NIO's vehicle programs in Germany. Acting as the main liaison between Quality, Engineering, After‑Sales, Homologation and automotive authorities, the role supports rapid issue resolution and continuous product improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor new automotive regulations, standards and authority requirements.
• Evaluate regulatory impact on vehicle programs and coordinate internal alignment.
• Support implementation of new legal and compliance requirements.
• Serve as primary contact for authorities such as KBA, RDW and other EU agencies.
• Manage escalation for critical quality topics and ensure timely reporting.
• Prepare technical assessments, compliance documentation and reports.
• Oversee execution of service campaigns and recalls.
• Track quality KPIs, field performance trends and manage audits and investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive OEM, Tier‑1 supplier, vehicle compliance/homologation or quality engineering.

Required skills

• Knowledge of automotive quality processes (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, 8D, FMEA, PPAP).
• Understanding of recalls, service campaigns, field actions and warranty processes.
• Familiarity with UNECE regulations, EU vehicle compliance and product safety requirements.
• Experience with type‑approval/homologation processes and software update regulations (R156).
• Functional safety awareness (ISO 26262).
