Freelance Project Manager – Data Centre (Frankfurt)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead a key phase of a large‑scale, mission‑critical data centre development in Frankfurt. The role covers the full delivery lifecycle from construction through commissioning to handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on‑site project delivery, ensuring time, cost and quality targets are met.
• Coordinate all disciplines – CSA, mechanical, electrical and commissioning.
• Develop and maintain the project programme, track progress and manage risks.
• Serve as the primary contact between client, main contractor and subcontractors.
• Manage and align multiple subcontractors with project objectives.
• Monitor performance, milestones and key deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, design requirements and contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with engineering, commercial and HSE teams for smooth execution.
• Handle change control, variations and commercial implications.
• Lead project meetings and report progress to senior stakeholders.
• Support commissioning and handover activities.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing data centre, pharmaceutical or other mission‑critical projects.
• Strong understanding of the data centre delivery lifecycle (CSA, MEP, commissioning).
• Experience with large‑scale construction projects in Germany or Europe.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex workstreams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness with experience handling budgets and variations.
• Availability for a 12–15 month freelance assignment.
