Head of Business Development – Composites – Europe

About the role

We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Leader to accelerate growth of our advanced sheet moulding compound (SMC) composite solutions across the European rail, bus and electric‑vehicle markets. The role will identify, develop and secure high‑value opportunities with OEMs, Tier‑1 suppliers, battery manufacturers and transport authorities, positioning the company as the preferred partner for lightweight, durable and high‑performance components.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a 3‑5‑year growth strategy for the rail, bus and EV segments.
• Identify new SMC applications in rolling stock, bus bodies, interior/exterior transport parts and EV battery enclosures.
• Build market intelligence on competitors, emerging technologies and mobility programmes.
• Lead the EV business development, establishing relationships with EV OEMs, battery manufacturers and Tier‑1 system suppliers.
• Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract negotiation and long‑term supply agreements.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and R&D to translate customer requirements into commercially viable solutions, supporting feasibility studies, costing and project execution.
• Promote SMC composites as superior alternatives to metals and thermoplastics based on weight reduction, fire performance, durability and cost efficiency.

Required profile

• Degree in Business, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in senior business development or sales leadership within composites, automotive, rail or EV sectors.
• Strong network with OEMs, Tier‑1 suppliers, battery manufacturers and transport authorities in Europe.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to develop long‑term growth plans and market entry strategies.
