Head of Engineering

About the role

We are on a mission to fundamentally change how construction companies operate by reimagining material procurement with autonomous AI agents. We are looking for a Head of Engineering who will build both the platform and the team behind it, at the intersection of AI, software, and one of the world’s most complex industries.

Key responsibilities

• Redesign comstruct's engineering org structure and career ladder as we scale past 10 engineers.
• Build a recruiting engine that consistently brings A‑players across all three engineering teams.
• Establish coaching, feedback, and performance rhythms that enable every team lead to grow into a strong manager.
• Own hiring, coaching, and org design end‑to‑end, freeing the CTO to focus on product discovery.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including time in high‑growth startups or scale‑ups.
• Led engineering teams of 10+ people, ideally managing managers or leads.
• Technical depth to be a real sparring partner in architecture and system design conversations.
• Experience building or scaling a technical recruiting engine and raising the hiring bar.
• AI‑first mindset and use of modern AI‑assisted engineering workflows.
• Structured, calm under ambiguity, and capable of designing an org from scratch.
• Full professional proficiency in German and English.
