Head of Quality Control (m/f/d) – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Quality Control to lead the QC function for an international pharmaceutical manufacturing client. You will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, intermediates, and finished products meet the highest quality standards in a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the QC function, ensuring compliance with GMP, GLP and all relevant regulations.
• Review, approve and maintain testing instructions and QC procedures for materials and products.
• Oversee sampling, handling, identification, storage and retention of samples.
• Lead analytical testing activities, ensuring methods and specifications are followed.
• Communicate critical quality events such as out‑of‑specification results to stakeholders.
• Drive validation of analytical methods and ensure proper qualification, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives using performance indicators and operational data.
• Maintain laboratories and facilities in an inspection‑ready state.
• Manage training, development and resource planning for QC personnel.
• Collaborate with contract laboratories and suppliers, overseeing qualification and performance monitoring.
• Support audits, inspections, change control, deviation management and quality improvement projects.

Required profile

• Degree in a scientific discipline, preferably pharmacy or a related field.
• Several years of experience in pharmaceutical quality control, including leadership exposure.
• Strong knowledge of GMP regulations and laboratory compliance standards.
• Proven ability to handle quality systems, audits and regulatory inspections.
• Excellent organizational, decision‑making and structured working skills.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities with stakeholder influence.
• Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken.
