Interim Associate or Senior Editor – Nature Physics

About the role

Nature Physics is looking for an Interim Associate or Senior Editor on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The editor will join the journal’s editorial team, handling original research papers and contributing to the journal’s content strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Assess submitted manuscripts and select papers for peer review.
• Oversee the peer‑review process and make editorial decisions.
• Commission, edit and write Review, Comment and News & Views articles.
• Produce editorial content and communicate scientific developments.
• Engage with the research community through conferences, lab visits and outreach activities.

Required profile

• PhD in physics or a closely related discipline.
• Expertise in optical physics and photonics; broad interest in other physics areas.
• Post‑doctoral research experience is advantageous.
• Editorial experience is not mandatory; significant experience may lead to a Senior Editor appointment.

Required skills

• Strong scientific writing and communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
