Legal Counsel – Commercial & Contract Law (Fixed-term)

About the role

Mondu, a fast‑growing B2B payments fintech, is looking for a Legal Counsel to provide strategic commercial and contractual guidance. This one‑year fixed‑term position offers autonomy to shape legal processes and work closely with product, risk and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal contact for major commercial, partnership and contractual matters.
• Develop and maintain commercial templates, playbooks and negotiate key contracts with merchants, partners and payment service providers.
• Drive automation and standardisation of legal workflows and tools.
• Provide advice on merchant cooperation, partnerships and third‑party services, supporting business stakeholders in negotiations.
• Collaborate with non‑legal stakeholders and legal colleagues across teams to resolve commercial legal issues.
• Report to the Chief Legal Officer and develop consulting and leadership capabilities.

Required profile

• 3+ years of relevant experience at a leading international law firm or a fast‑paced in‑house legal team.
• Fully qualified to practice law in Germany (second bar exam or equivalent European qualification).
• Excellent German and English communication skills (C1+).
• Proven experience drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts.
• Experience working with product, risk and commercial teams in a technology‑driven environment.
• Hands‑on, efficient mindset suitable for a high‑growth setting.
