Mechanical Engineer – Acoustic AI Systems

About the role

Omnisent, a Munich‑based acoustic AI startup, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, build, and test aerial and robotic platforms that power real‑time acoustic sensing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, assemble, and modify aerial and robotic platforms used for system testing.
• Build mechanical test rigs and fixtures for acoustic, RF, and structural evaluations.
• Plan and execute controlled‑lab experiments, including data collection and documentation.
• Rapidly prototype parts using FDM, SLA, SLS, CNC machining and water‑jet cutting.
• Contribute to enclosure and component designs that balance acoustics, thermals, durability and manufacturability.
• Maintain product lifecycle tasks such as BOM updates, revision tracking and test documentation.
• Prepare fixtures and prototypes for external testing houses and manufacturing partners.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to bring deep‑tech products from concept to deployment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Strong foundation in mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
• Hands‑on, practical mindset with experience in prototyping and testing.
• Organised working style with attention to documentation and design traceability.
• Fluent English communication skills; German is a plus.
• EU work authorization.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, etc.).
• Experience with additive manufacturing (FDM, SLA, SLS) and subtractive methods (CNC machining, water‑jet cutting).
• Knowledge of mechanical test rig construction and acoustic enclosure design.
• Familiarity with BOM maintenance and revision tracking.
• Exposure to FEA or other simulation tools is a plus.
