Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Projects

About the role

Mercury, the European leader in construction solutions, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical works on data‑centre and advanced technology projects in Munich. You will coordinate teams, ensure compliance with safety and mechanical codes, and deliver high‑quality installations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and assign work schedules for the mechanical team and subcontractors.
• Supervise and motivate team members, ensuring proper handling of mechanical materials and equipment.
• Maintain safety standards and adhere to mechanical codes and permits.
• Oversee installation of mechanical equipment such as chillers, AHUs, pumps, and fire‑protection systems.
• Control scope, engineering changes, non‑conformities and technical queries.
• Review work procedures and method statements, suggesting improvements.
• Coordinate daily execution with civil, electrical and other contractors to avoid clashes.
• Hire, train and evaluate new employees.
• Report major on‑site issues to senior management.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in data‑centre projects.
• Excellent organisational, planning and negotiation skills.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
