Middle Software Engineer – Backend & Streaming

About the role

Flix is seeking a motivated Middle Software Engineer to join the Geo Information Systems team within the Supply Division. You will develop backend services and streaming applications that process large‑scale real‑time vehicle and ride data, delivering insights to millions of passengers.

Key responsibilities

• Build backend services and streaming applications that power real‑time insights for millions of passengers.
• Strengthen automated testing, expand end‑to‑end test coverage, and improve delivery pipeline reliability.
• Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with a cross‑functional team to solve complex technical challenges and deliver high‑quality products.
• Contribute to engineering culture through knowledge sharing and pragmatic decision‑making.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of software development experience in a similar role.
• Experience with a JVM‑based language (Scala preferred).
• Experience building web applications (HTTP APIs).
• Infrastructure and CI/CD experience (e.g., Terraform, GitLab CI).
• Ownership mindset: defines metrics/KPIs, ensures output quality, and automates repeatable tasks.
• Basic data analysis and modelling skills; spatial data experience is a bonus.
• Strong communication and documentation abilities.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented team player with a knowledge‑sharing attitude.
