Research Engineer – Power Transformer Development

About the role

As a Research Engineer in the Grid Technology division of Siemens Energy, you will contribute to fundamental development of innovative technologies for a sustainable and secure energy future. Working in basic research, you will create new concepts and electrical solutions well before they reach the market, shaping the long‑term evolution of the power industry.

Key responsibilities

• Conceive and research new technologies, developing innovative electrical concepts and their theoretical foundations up to proof‑of‑concepts and prototypes.
• Perform electrical field calculations and evaluate losses in power transformer components.
• Develop and enhance simulation and calculation methods in electrical engineering.
• Plan, implement and evaluate test series, comparing experimental results with calculations.

Required profile

• Completed Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related technical field.
• Extensive experience in engineering product development or research for power transformers, including hands‑on use of simulation software for electromagnetic and dielectric analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a distributed team.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages such as German are a plus.
