Mechanical Design / Stress Engineer (Working Student Possible)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design / Stress Engineer to join Telura’s Munich team and help develop the core mechanical subsystems of our next‑generation drilling platform. The role will involve translating concepts into robust hardware that can operate under extreme subsurface conditions, with the possibility of a working‑student or part‑time arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design and develop mechanical components for the drill bit and overall drilling system from concept through to market launch.
• Perform FEA‑driven analyses to assess static loads, fatigue life, thermal‑mechanical coupling and failure modes.
• Build prototypes, define test infrastructure and conduct validation testing to de‑risk the technology.
• Integrate high‑voltage, thermal and fluid subsystems into a reliable drilling assembly.
• Establish and improve design, manufacturing and development processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2–5 years of professional experience in product development, design or manufacturing.
• Hands‑on mentality with a willingness to build, test and iterate.
• Structured, independent work style and ability to take ownership.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to partners, suppliers and customer sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Experience with mechanical analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
