Senior AI Systems Engineer – Robotics & Swarming

About the role

We are looking for a Senior AI Systems Engineer to lead the development of autonomous robotics and swarming capabilities for next‑generation unmanned systems. You will design the tactical brain that enables coordinated decision‑making across fixed‑wing, tube‑launched and quadcopter platforms operating in contested, low‑bandwidth environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train and deploy decision‑making frameworks using reinforcement learning, imitation learning and behavior‑tree architectures for multi‑vehicle coordination.
• Develop decentralized task‑allocation and collective‑intelligence algorithms that operate under communication‑constrained or GPS‑denied conditions, building on existing TDOA/RSSI localization and mesh networking.
• Build and run extensive ROS2 SITL simulations to stress‑test behavioral logic, neural networks and reactive behaviors before hardware deployment.
• Engineer pipelines that move trained models from GPU clusters to edge robotics hardware without performance loss.
• Collaborate with perception and flight‑control teams to integrate AI‑driven behaviors with safety‑critical C++ flight software.
• Profile, debug and optimise the performance of behavioral systems in real‑time flight tests.

Required profile

• Proven experience in AI/ML for robotics, preferably in autonomous swarming or multi‑agent systems.
• Strong background in developing and deploying algorithms for real‑time, safety‑critical applications.
• Ability to work hands‑on with both software simulations and physical flight hardware.
