Senior System Administrator – Munich

About the role

The Senior System Administrator is responsible for designing, maintaining, securing and optimizing Spaceopal’s IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance and reliability. The role provides technical leadership, leads infrastructure projects, automates processes and delivers advanced support to employees.

Key responsibilities

• Administer servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, network devices, and firewalls.
• Monitor infrastructure health and application performance, analyze logs and troubleshoot outages.
• Maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, or Proxmox VE and manage both Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL) and Windows Server environments.
• Develop, test and maintain backup, recovery and contingency plans to guarantee data integrity.
• Lead infrastructure projects, automate operational processes and provide advanced technical support to employees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of system administration and IT infrastructure management.
• 5‑7 years of experience leading projects in highly secure environments.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving under pressure and solid verbal communication.
• High attention to detail and strong security awareness.

Required skills

• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange Offline, identity services.
• TCP/IP, VPN, routing and switching.
• Virtualization platforms: VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, Proxmox VE.
• Linux (Ubuntu Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Windows Server administration.
• Backup solutions such as Veeam.
• Containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Time‑series databases (e.g., InfluxDB).
