Tax Specialist – VAT & Corporate Tax (m/f/d)

About the role

BIRKENSTOCK is seeking a Tax Specialist to manage VAT, corporate income tax and trade tax matters for its domestic and international operations. You will work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with German tax law and European regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review VAT returns, EC Sales Lists (ESL) and Intrastat declarations.
• Support the preparation of corporate income tax and trade tax returns.
• Assess domestic and cross‑border transactions from a VAT perspective and act as a point of contact for internal teams.
• Monitor tax‑related accounts, perform reconciliations and assist with tax audits.
• Conduct tax research and prepare analyses of tax law matters in coordination with the team.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training as a Tax Specialist (Steuerfachangestellte/r) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum three years of experience in a tax advisory firm or a corporate tax department.
• Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
• Independent, proactive and team‑oriented working style.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SAP (advantage).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
