Tritium Fuel Cycle Lead

About the role

Proxima Fusion is seeking a Tritium Fuel Cycle Lead to drive the design and integration of the tritium fuel cycle for Alpha, the company’s scientific‑breakeven stellarator. You will apply deep expertise in tritium handling to ensure the system meets performance targets and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Define specifications for all tritium fuel‑cycle equipment, including exhaust gas processing, storage, accountancy and fueling.
• Lead procurement, contracts and partnerships with suppliers to deliver critical components.
• Develop and manage tritium accountancy, quantifying permeation, retention and their impact on plant performance.
• Conduct first‑principles modelling, testing and prototyping to validate designs.
• Provide expert input for the Alpha safety case concerning tritium containment.
• Build and mentor an innovative, inclusive internal team while coordinating external collaborations.

Required profile

• Visionary team player capable of leading multidisciplinary work packages in a fast‑paced environment.
• Deep understanding of fusion fuel cycles, especially tritium gas exhaust processing, separation, storage, accountancy and containment.
• Proven track record in procuring and commissioning tritium equipment.
• Experience creating and owning tritium accountancy frameworks.
