Academic & Artistic Associate – Bioregional Weaving

About the role

The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design seeks an Academic and Artistic Associate for Bioregional Weaving within the Circular School teaching project. The position starts on 1 July 2026 (or as soon as possible), is part‑time (75%) and limited to four years.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, maintain and expand the partner and stakeholder network of the Circular School across university, city, region and natural environments.
• Research and map regional resources, cultural techniques, production contexts and ecological settings.
• Design, organise and lead excursions, field trips, off‑campus and mobile teaching formats.
• Co‑develop and deliver Circular School teaching formats such as Circular Studios, workshops, lecture series, Summer Schools and public programmes.
• Activate the mobile lab (incubator) together with the project team, students and external partners.
• Support student projects in field research, site research, partner engagement, co‑design processes and public presentations.

Required profile

• Experience in interdisciplinary academic or artistic projects that connect design, ecology and regional collaboration.
• Ability to work with diverse partners including cultural institutions, local initiatives, workshops and producers.
• Strong organisational skills for planning field activities and mobile teaching formats.

• Remuneration according to the TV‑L collective agreement for public service, up to pay grade E13.
