Chief Technology Officer – Europe

About the role

Rakuten Symphony is seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Europe to lead its engineering organization. The CTO will shape technology strategy, drive innovation, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality telecom solutions across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and technical vision for a team of 200+ engineers.
• Oversee technical delivery across engineering, operations, quality assurance, and project deployment.
• Manage customer relationships, contractual fulfillment, and escalation handling.
• Drive innovation by monitoring emerging technology trends and identifying new product opportunities.
• Lead design, development, and maintenance of network infrastructure to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate technology partnerships.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and implement robust cybersecurity measures.
• Develop and control the technology budget, optimizing resource allocation.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, sales, and customer service to align technology initiatives with business goals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading large, complex engineering organizations, preferably in the telecommunications sector.
• Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies that support business objectives.
• Strong track record in people management, stakeholder engagement, and cost‑effectiveness initiatives.
• Demonstrated expertise in network infrastructure, vendor management, and regulatory environments.
