CMS Scientific Intern – Conservation of Migratory Species

About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated intern to support the CMS Scientific Team at the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Secretariat in Bonn, Germany. The internship can also be performed remotely if required.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of decisions from COP15 on cross‑cutting issues such as climate change, wildlife health, illegal taking, connectivity and light pollution.
- Support planning and coordination of working groups, attend meetings and teleconferences, and take detailed notes.
- Contribute to maintaining the CMS Appendices and online species databases, including range‑state data.
- Help develop strategies, action plans, and background documents for CMS meetings and workshops.

- Unpaid, full‑time internship (40 hours/week) for a minimum of three months, extendable up to six months.
- Opportunity to work with an international team on global conservation initiatives.
- Flexibility to work onsite in Bonn or remotely, depending on candidate needs.
