Composite CAD Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a talented Composite CAD Design Engineer to join The Exploration Company’s spacecraft development team. You will design and develop composite structures for Nyx, our modular reusable orbital vehicle, supporting both current cargo missions and future human flights.

Key responsibilities

• Build and mature CAD models of composite structures and subsystems using Siemens NX, including layup definition and ply book creation.
• Support metallic part design and ensure integration with composite assemblies.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to define layup sequences, tolerances and cost‑effective processes.
• Select appropriate composite materials (CFRP, sandwich panels) based on mission loads and supplier capabilities.
• Iterate designs with structural and thermal analysts using FEA results and test feedback.
• Prepare technical drawings, ply books and documentation for design reviews and part qualification.
• Maintain configuration control of models and contribute to vehicle mass‑budget tracking.
• Help improve composite design tools, databases and best practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in composite design for aerospace or high‑performance applications.
• Experience with metallic part design for similar environments.
