Data Scientist Consultant (AI & Migration Data)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration seeks a Data Scientist Consultant to support its Migration and Displacement Data and Research Analytics Division. The role focuses on AI‑driven data consolidation, development of analytical workflows, and design of high‑impact AI projects to inform migration operations and policy.

Key responsibilities

• AI‑driven consolidation of Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) data across rounds, including implementation of an agentic system to harmonize survey questions, build longitudinal datasets, and perform automatic sanity checks.
• Develop a roadmap for additional high‑impact AI projects, providing technical overviews, detailed design of initiatives such as anticipatory action, and implementation plans with resource and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in computer science, data science, AI, statistics, mathematics, physics or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence or a related discipline.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or R and associated machine‑learning libraries.
• Experience developing AI solutions with large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, or agentic workflows.
• Ability to process and analyze complex unstructured datasets and communicate results to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
