Senior Manager Data Engineer

About the role

Publicis Sapient, a technology company that builds its own enterprise AI platforms and services, is looking for a Senior Manager Data Engineer in Berlin. The role leads a team and creates technology products that improve user experience. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, a strong track record of delivery and proven experience building and leading high-performance engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and data storage solutions
• Build and maintain scalable, reliable, high-performance pipelines for structured and unstructured data
• Work with big data technologies and distributed systems to process large datasets
• Collaborate with data modelers, data scientists and solution architects on efficient data flows and storage
• Partner with data scientists and analysts to deliver clean, well-structured data
• Coordinate with integration teams and data source owners for data ingestion
• Automate provisioning, deployments and environment management
• Create and support APIs and data services for internal and external consumers
• Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, performance, data quality and governance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong professional experience in data engineering or related roles
• Fluent German, spoken and written
• Background in Energy and Commodities or Financial Services is a plus

Required skills

• Hands-on ETL/ELT design and implementation
• Big data ecosystems such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka and Flink
• Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse
• Python and/or Java; SQL and relational and non-relational databases
• Data modeling, schema design and partitioning strategies
• Workflow orchestration (Airflow, Data Factory) and version control (Git) and CI/CD are a plus
