Database Specialist for Chemistry Solutions

About the role

The Reaxys team is looking for a self‑driven relational database specialist who is passionate about performance optimisation of large‑scale chemistry data. You will work in an agile environment, supporting scientists, researchers and students by ensuring fast, reliable access to complex chemical datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, maintain and continuously optimise data structures, schemas and queries for large, growing datasets.
• Ensure near‑real‑time response for complex chemical search queries.
• Collaborate with development teams in Frankfurt, Bengaluru and Amsterdam to improve the chemical full‑text retrieval engine.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL or Oracle databases.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Life Sciences (master’s preferred).
• Proven track record in database, schema and query optimisation.
