Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a creative and driven Design Engineer to join our multicultural team working on cutting‑edge space structures, including the Conical Imaging Microwave Radiometer for the Copernicus Mission. You will bridge procurement, engineering, and product development while focusing on CAD‑driven design and integration of deployable antenna hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Develop innovative solutions and improve existing designs through data‑driven analysis.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed part and assembly drawings, and parts lists using SolidWorks.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and participate in design reviews.
• Generate BOM tables and coordinate with the Supply Chain Manager to meet procurement schedules.
• Own design ownership, collaborate with internal and external partners, and optimise interfaces.
• Provide inputs to the Analysis team for FEA validation.
• Work with the MAIT team to produce manufacturing and assembly instructions.
• Manage design documentation with configuration control using SolidWorks PDM.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (FH/University).
• Minimum 5 years of professional design engineering experience in European space or aerospace projects.
• Proven experience in mechanical design of structures, including composites and metal components.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (CAD modeling and drawing creation).
• SolidWorks PDM for configuration management.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) coordination.
• Composite material design.
• Mechanical CAD and Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
