Director of People (gn) – DeepTech Scale-Up

About the role

We are an Atlantic‑backed deep‑tech venture building the computing infrastructure for the next wave of AI. As our first dedicated people hire, you will create and lead the People function from the ground up, partnering directly with the founders to shape culture, hiring, and development as we scale.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own a people strategy aligned with growth plans and company values, advising founders and senior leadership.
• Build the People function from scratch, establishing processes, policies, and governance needed for rapid scaling.
• Design and execute a long‑term hiring strategy, collaborating with hiring managers on workforce planning and employer branding.
• Implement performance management, feedback loops, and review cycles; lead talent reviews and development discussions.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle in Personio, from onboarding to off‑boarding, and automate workflows for efficiency.
• Develop a strong, inclusive, feedback‑driven culture and coach leaders on communication and conflict resolution.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in people or talent leadership, including senior partner or head of people roles.
• Proven track record of building or substantially scaling a People function in a fast‑growing organization.
• Deep knowledge of German employment law and regulations.
• Hands‑on experience with Personio HR software.
• Ability to work autonomously, set strategy, and execute without waiting for direction.
