Doctoral Researcher / Postdoc in Environmental Conflicts (75% part-time)

About the role

The University of Marburg invites applications for a part‑time (75%) Doctoral Researcher or Postdoctoral position within the Center for Conflict Research. The role focuses on the project “Contested Responses to the Climate Crisis: Environmental Conflicts in Southeast Europe in the Shadow of the EU’s Green Transition,” funded by the German Foundation for Peace Research.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct empirical research on environmental conflicts in Serbia and Bosnia‑Herzegovina.
• Carry out fieldwork, including interviews and data collection, in the target regions.
• Organise a workshop to facilitate knowledge transfer between scholars and practitioners.
• Contribute to publication activities such as reports, articles, and conference papers.

Required profile

• Completed academic degree (Diploma, Master’s or equivalent) in a social‑science discipline.
• Good knowledge of Serbo‑Croatian and English.
• Familiarity with the social and cultural context of Serbia and Bosnia‑Herzegovina is desirable.
• Experience in protest or social‑movement research and academic projects is an asset.
