Expert Global Procurement Food (24‑month contract)

About the role

METRO is seeking an Expert in Global Procurement Food for a fixed‑term assignment of 24 months. Based at the global headquarters, you will drive the development and harmonisation of the company’s own‑brand food range across all country subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Define, develop, negotiate, implement and review the performance of the Global Own‑Brand Range.
• Align and harmonise the product assortment with country subsidiaries to maximise potential.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Quality, Packaging, Supply Chain, Marketing) through a defined Own‑Brand process.
• Analyse RFQ inputs, negotiate the best quality‑price ratio and global service contracts.
• Monitor supplier production capacity, coverage rates, e‑sourcing status and maintain reporting databases (prices, volumes, contracts).
• Lead the global relationship between strategic suppliers, METRO HQ stakeholders and country companies.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience in food commodities or FMCG procurement on an international level.
• Proven track record as a strong negotiator in category management and condition‑based supplier negotiations.
• Interest in food product development and willingness to learn HoReCa customer needs.
• Motivation to support the development of METRO’s global strategy and strong analytical/problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with Word and Outlook.
