Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Open Ring is building the world’s first open‑source smart‑ring platform that combines wearable hardware, firmware, mobile apps, web products and developer tools. We are looking for a Full‑Stack Software Engineer to own and ship software across the entire product stack, from our WordPress website to backend services, mobile integrations and developer‑facing features.

Key responsibilities

• Develop full‑stack features for web applications, backend services, mobile‑connected product features and internal tools.
• Maintain and extend the WordPress/CMS site, including custom templates, plugins, analytics, performance, SEO, security and backend integrations.
• Build customer‑facing dashboards, admin tools, developer portals, onboarding flows and data‑management interfaces.
• Extend iOS and Android app functionality for BLE discovery, pairing, GATT interactions, background sync and offline data capture.
• Design and maintain REST APIs, authentication, database schemas, data models, background jobs and third‑party integrations.
• Create sensor‑data pipelines for ingestion, synchronization, storage, visualization, export and quality checks.
• Collaborate with embedded systems engineers on BLE protocol design and firmware/mobile integration testing.
• Develop developer‑facing tools such as SDKs, API documentation, sample apps and integration guides.
• Improve reliability, performance, security, observability, testing, deployment and maintainability across the stack.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in full‑stack software development.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving startup environment.
• Strong ownership mindset and comfort shipping production‑ready features.
• Experience collaborating with hardware and research teams.

Required skills

• WordPress/CMS development, custom templates and plugin integration.
• Frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and performance optimization.
• Backend development with REST APIs, authentication, database design and background processing.
• iOS and Android development, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) discovery, GATT, pairing and data sync.
• Data pipeline construction for sensor data ingestion, storage, visualization and export.
• SDK creation, API documentation and sample application development.
• Security best practices, observability, testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
