Head of Production (GMP Manufacturing)

About the role

The Head of Department Production will lead a GMP‑regulated operation in Northern Germany, overseeing roughly 30 employees across multiple production functions. Reporting to the Production Director, you will balance hands‑on floor presence with strategic planning to drive performance, compliance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Own operational performance and strategic production planning for the department.
• Ensure strict GMP compliance and high product quality.
• Develop people through coaching, performance management and leadership training for Group Leaders.
• Build structure, accountability and clear communication processes.
• Support future growth while maintaining existing standards.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives without disrupting current operations.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a GMP‑regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing through supervisors, team leaders or group leaders.
• Background in pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred; biotech, food & beverage or other highly regulated sectors also considered.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes, performance and organisational structure.
• Fluent German and strong English communication skills.
• Leadership style that combines clear direction with coaching and people development.
