Intern (d/f/m) Artificial Intelligence

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a motivated intern to join the Mission Functions department in Donauwörth. You will work on artificial‑intelligence components embedded in helicopter software, gaining hands‑on experience with AI model development, testing and integration.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary, international teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards such as DO‑178C and ISO 26262.
• Participate in verification and validation of AI models, designing and executing test cases.
• Support dataset collection, curation and labeling for model training.
• Assist in training, fine‑tuning and monitoring AI/ML models using Python and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch and scikit‑learn.
• Develop automated pipelines for model training, testing and deployment.
• Analyze model performance, debug issues and propose improvements.
• Contribute to process automation and DevOps practices for AI development.
• Stay updated on the latest AI/ML technologies and suggest innovative integrations.

Required profile

• Enrolled full‑time student in IT, Computer Science or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of Python for scripting and model development.
• Familiarity with software testing methods (unit, integration, system‑level).
• Experience with data collection, preprocessing, labeling and evaluation for AI training.
• Understanding of embedded systems or real‑time AI integration is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of C and C++ and exposure to agile development practices.
• Experience with version control (Git) and DevOps concepts is valuable.
