Mechanical Design Engineer – Battery Structures

About the role

Join Tesla's Battery Structures Engineering team in Berlin and take full ownership of mechanical design projects from concept through production launch. You will work in a fast‑paced, interdisciplinary environment to develop cutting‑edge battery components for European and global markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full product design, from initial concept to production ramp‑up.
• Create 3D models and GD&T drawings for complex parts and assemblies.
• Conduct basic testing and analysis, and support advanced failure and root‑cause investigations.
• Optimize designs using analytical, numerical, and empirical methods.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, test, NPI, supply‑chain and other cross‑functional teams.
• Drive continuous product and process improvement and challenge existing industry standards.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in materials and mechanics.
• Hands‑on experience with high‑voltage battery structures.
• Passion for solving problems through design solutions.
• Proven ability to take a product from design to prototype.
• Detail‑oriented with solid documentation and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD modeling (CATIA V5/3DX is a plus).
• Experience with GD&T and 3D design.
• Basic testing, analysis, failure analysis and root‑cause analysis.
• Analytical and numerical assessment techniques.
