Mechanical Design Engineer – Window Regulator (Berlin)

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer for window regulators, you will own the design and development of the regulator mechanism and its integration with vehicle doors for Tesla vehicles in Berlin. You will create robust, high‑performance systems while focusing on quality, cost, weight and manufacturing efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of current and next‑generation window regulator systems.
• Produce 2D drawings, 3D models and component specifications using CATIA V5/3DX.
• Conduct and interpret CAE studies (kinematics, multi‑body dynamics, structural analysis) and iterate designs.
• Select materials and design mechanisms including motors, cables, tracks, linkages and glass attachments.
• Optimize designs for high‑volume production, assembly and cost targets.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA and DFM principles to ensure manufacturability.
• Collaborate with body, closures, electrical, glass, interior and manufacturing teams, as well as internal and external suppliers.
• Participate in cross‑functional design reviews and prototype/production builds.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with strong academic record.
• At least 3 years of experience designing mechanical mechanisms or motion systems, preferably automotive window regulators or similar.
• Experience with frameless drop glazing or flush glass systems is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CATIA V5 and CATIA 3DX for complex 3D geometry.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals: kinematics, dynamics, force analysis and tolerance stack‑ups.
• Experience with CAE tools for kinematics, multi‑body dynamics and structural analysis.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA and DFM.
