Mechanical Engineer (Actuator & Motor Design)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialized in actuator and motor design to join our early‑stage team. Working closely with the Mechanical Engineering Lead, you will create and integrate actuation systems that transform energy into precise motion for robotic platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the complete mechanical design of linear and rotary actuators, including gear trains, motors, housings and sensors.
• Develop and run simulation models in Matlab, Modelica, Kisssoft and other MBSE tools to optimise performance.
• Perform static and dynamic structural analysis and thermal balancing using Finite Element Analysis.
• Select bearings and ensure seamless mechanical integration of actuators into robotic assemblies.
• Build prototypes, define validation plans and conduct life‑cycle and environmental stress testing.
• Support manufacturing by designing assembly fixtures and applying Design for Manufacturing and Assembly principles.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in high‑performance robotics, automotive or aerospace engineering.
• At least 2 years developing actuation products for robotics or automation.
• Strong analytical mindset with a hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and design iteration.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work across mechanical, electrical and software teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD and GD&T.
• Experience with Matlab, Modelica, Kisssoft and other MBSE simulation tools.
• Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis for structural and thermal evaluation.
• Understanding of bearing selection, gear trains and motor integration.
• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) practices.
