Operations Director – Manufacturing (North Rhine-Westphalia)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead manufacturing across two sites in North Rhine-Westphalia. Reporting to the Plant Manager/Managing Director, you will be accountable for production performance, operational excellence, and strategic development of processes, technologies, and teams.

Key responsibilities

• Full responsibility for production, processes, quality and the development of a 5‑6 manager team overseeing 600+ staff.
• Align manufacturing operations with customer requirements and corporate objectives.
• Define and implement operational strategies, drive Lean Management initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Lead budget planning, monitoring and adherence, as well as capacity planning and investment activities.
• Identify and implement automation solutions and new technologies to boost efficiency.
• Manage ramp‑up of manufacturing, launch new production programmes (NPI) and ensure delivery of quality, cost and timing targets.
• Act as key contact for customer escalations and participate in internal/external audits (e.g., AS9100).

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years in an operational leadership role, preferably in automotive or industrial manufacturing.
• Proven experience leading large, multi‑site teams.
• Strong expertise in Lean Management and continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical, structured and solution‑oriented approach.
