Part‑time Spanish Teacher (0.2 FTE)

About the role

The International School Groningen is seeking an experienced secondary‑school Spanish teacher to join its multilingual community on a part‑time, temporary basis. You will inspire students aged 11‑18 to develop proficiency in Spanish language and culture while supporting the school's International Baccalaureate programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging Spanish lessons for mixed‑ability groups.
• Teach grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening and cultural topics.
• Use varied pedagogical methods to make learning relevant to students' everyday experiences.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Spanish into the broader IB curriculum.

Required profile

• Qualified secondary‑school teacher of Spanish (2nd‑grade Dutch teaching qualification or equivalent foreign diploma).
• Proficient in English, the working language of the school.
• Experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) at secondary level.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for small, mixed‑ability groups.
• Awareness of intercultural and inclusive teaching environments.

Required skills

• Strong command of Spanish language and grammar.
• Effective classroom management and lesson‑planning skills.
• Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (advantageous).
