RF Engineer / Technician – Ground Control Station

About the role

We are looking for an RF Engineer / Technician to design, integrate and validate robust RF systems for our Ground Control Station UAV platforms. The role supports secure communications and electronic‑warfare capabilities in contested environments, working closely with the Commercial team in Berlin.

Key responsibilities

• Select, design and integrate RF hardware such as SDRs, antennas, filters, LNAs, power amplifiers and front‑end modules.
• Define system‑level requirements and ensure compliance with performance, environmental and NATO/MIL standards.
• Develop communication architectures for command, control, telemetry and payload data transfer.
• Support electronic‑warfare functions including signal detection, jamming, spoofing and RF hardening.
• Perform RF simulations, link‑budget calculations and range‑performance modelling.
• Collaborate with mechanical and systems engineers on antenna placement, EMC/EMI mitigation and SWaP optimisation.
• Evaluate COTS and custom RF components, plan and execute lab tests, range validation and flight trials.
• Prepare safety, reliability and certification documentation in line with NATO STANAGs and MIL‑STD‑461/464/810.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
• Experience designing RF systems for aerospace, defence or tactical communications.
• Eligibility for security clearance (or already cleared) and fluency in English.
• Willingness to travel to testing sites across Europe when required.

Required skills

• Software‑defined radios (SDR) and RF front‑end design.
• Antenna system integration and RF hardware selection.
• RF simulation and modelling tools (HFSS, CST, MATLAB).
• Test equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
• Knowledge of EMC/EMI principles and ruggedisation for harsh environments.
• Familiarity with NATO STANAGs and MIL‑STD‑461/464/810.
