Science Technician / Lab Assistant (Full-time)

About the role

We are looking for a Science Technician / Lab Assistant to support the secondary science department at our school. The role involves preparing experiments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe laboratory environment for teachers and students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, apparatus, and chemicals for classes and demonstrations.
• Provide hands‑on assistance during lessons, supporting teachers and students.
• Assist in designing, assembling, and testing experimental setups.
• Maintain, clean, calibrate and troubleshoot scientific instruments.
• Manage laboratory inventory, order chemicals and supplies, and keep labs tidy.
• Monitor and enforce lab safety protocols, including proper storage and use of protective equipment.
• Communicate technical issues to the Head(s) of Department and collaborate with science faculty.

Required profile

• Degree or technical training in a scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, Lab Technology, CTA/BTA/PTA.
• Practical experience managing laboratory environments, preferably in an educational setting.
• Highly proficient English; good German is an asset.
• Organised, problem‑solving mindset and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Laboratory equipment handling and setup.
• Scientific instrument calibration and troubleshooting.
• Inventory management for lab supplies.
• Implementation of lab safety procedures.

What we offer

• Full‑time position (40 h/week) Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑4:00 pm.
• Salary range €42,680.32 – €48,653.85 gross per year, with CPI adjustments.
• Up to 60 days paid leave per year, including school‑holiday time off.
• Fixed‑term contract initially until 31 July 2028.
