Senior Backend Engineer – Offsite Search Optimisation

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead off‑site search optimisation for our AI‑powered ecommerce discovery platform. You will design, build and own scalable backend services that improve revenue‑critical metrics such as conversion and profit.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production‑grade Python services that process billions of queries daily.
• Design, implement and monitor data‑heavy pipelines, including SQL analytics, logging and metrics.
• Set up alerting, debugging and observability tooling for user‑facing systems.
• Deliver clean, testable code with incremental releases and thorough code reviews.
• Integrate external APIs and build ETL/ELT workflows using PySpark.

Required profile

• Strong experience building and owning backend services in Python.
• Advanced SQL skills and comfort with large‑scale data systems.
• Proven ability to monitor, alert and debug production services.
• Track record of shipping maintainable software with tests and code reviews.
