Senior Construction Manager – BESS Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager to lead the end‑to‑end delivery of large‑scale, stand‑alone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Germany. Based in Hamburg or Munich, you will act as the senior representative of the asset owner, overseeing safety, quality, schedule and budget while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full execution cycle of BESS projects, ensuring safe, on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Provide strategic direction to project teams and EPC partners, aligning engineering, construction, commissioning and asset management.
• Manage planning, risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement, HSE, contract administration, site supervision, QA/QC and interface management.
• Represent the company with EPC contractors, subcontractors, grid operators, technical authorities and local stakeholders.
• Validate design implementation, civil works, MV/HV electrical installation, power electronics integration and commissioning.
• Resolve critical on‑site issues, ensuring regulatory compliance and permitting requirements are met.
• Collaborate with finance, legal, procurement and commissioning teams for cost control and seamless handover.
• Produce high‑value reporting and decision‑support documentation for senior management.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in complex infrastructure or energy projects, with at least 7 years as a Project Manager for construction.
• Proven leadership in construction oversight and contractor management.
• Strong ability to navigate technical, contractual and regulatory challenges.
