Senior Manager, Indirect Tax Compliance & Strategic Projects

About the role

Join Zalando’s Group Tax Department in Berlin as a Senior Manager responsible for VAT reporting across multiple European countries and leading strategic indirect‑tax projects such as e‑invoicing rollouts and DAC‑7 implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end VAT reporting and ensure accurate, timely submissions for a portfolio of European entities.
• Lead high‑priority cross‑functional tax projects, translating advisory requirements into operational workflows and managing system integrations.
• Drive process improvements, tax technology adoption and automation to enhance compliance efficiency.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Taxation, Law, Economics or Business Administration, or a professional VAT advisory qualification.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in VAT reporting, tax projects and cross‑border tax matters, preferably in an in‑house or international advisory setting.
• Fluent in English and German (written and spoken) and able to work at least three days per week onsite in Berlin.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of EU VAT law, DAC‑7 requirements and e‑invoicing mandates.
• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA.
• Familiarity with tax reporting tools; knowledge of AMANA GTC VAT is a plus.
