Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Interior Soft Trims

About the role

Join the Cabin Engineering team in Berlin to lead the design, validation, and launch of soft‑trim interior components for premium vehicles. You will work closely with US and China engineering groups, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams to deliver innovative, cost‑effective, and high‑quality interior solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and launch soft‑trim components, balancing styling, ergonomics, cost, mass, NVH, and manufacturability.
• Apply DFSS, DFMEA, and DVP&R methodologies, create GD&T drawings, and build checking fixtures.
• Collaborate with design studios, purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, and validation teams throughout CAD development, CAE analysis, RFQ, sourcing, prototyping, and production launch.
• Partner with external suppliers for part design, root‑cause troubleshooting, and system‑level validation.
• Analyze field reliability data to drive continuous improvement of interior reliability.
• Release design changes via Tesla’s 3DExperience system, maintaining accurate MBOM and PO documentation.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 3 years of automotive soft‑trim interior component experience.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, able to handle complex, time‑critical challenges.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude, creativity, and effective communication.
