Site Reliability Engineer - Observability and Databases

About the role

Exoscale, a Swiss/European cloud service provider, is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to help maintain the constant availability of its platform. The role focuses on building, developing and maintaining the observability platform and the database platforms. It is open to candidates based in Spain, Germany or working remotely within the EU.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, optimise and evolve the visibility stack, including VictoriaMetrics, vmagent and Mimir
• Design a scalable platform
• Take part in automation and orchestration efforts to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention
• Improve processes to ensure scalability, reliability and high availability of the infrastructure
• Join the on-call rotation after a training period
• Help maintain the database platforms (MariaDB, Cassandra, FoundationDB, ClickHouse)

Required profile

• Deep understanding of systems administration and Linux
• Experience with Kubernetes and application deployment
• Passion for automation and willingness to work in a distributed team
• Curious, autonomous and strong communicator in English, written and spoken
• Candidates not yet familiar with all topics but willing to learn are encouraged to apply

Required skills

• Mimir/Prometheus and VictoriaMetrics vmagent (or equivalent)
• Go programming and knowledge of distributed systems principles
• Knowledge of MariaDB, Kafka, Cassandra, FoundationDB or ClickHouse
• Configuration management and management of large-scale infrastructure
