Staff Mechanical Design Engineer – Cabin Engineering (m/w/d)

About the role

Join the Cabin Engineering team in Berlin as a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer. You will lead the development of interior vehicle components, acting as a bridge between the US and Berlin engineering groups to deliver premium cabin systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a commodity group (Seats, Cabin, or Cockpit) through full development and launch cycles, ensuring technical deliverables meet program timelines.
• Conduct technical design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and provide training across the team.
• Develop, validate, and launch components while balancing styling, ergonomics, cost, mass, NVH, manufacturability, and craftsmanship.
• Create and apply DFSS, DFMEA, and DVP&R processes, produce GD&T drawings, and generate checking fixtures.
• Collaborate with suppliers on part design, troubleshooting, manufacturing trials, and validation.
• Analyze field reliability data to improve interior reliability and drive design or process changes.
• Document design changes in the 3DExperience system and support MBOM updates.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical design for vehicle interiors or related automotive systems.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex development projects.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in both virtual (CAE) and physical prototyping.
• Excellent communication skills to work with global engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing partners.
