Sustainability Data & Operations Manager

About the role

Zalando's Sustainability and Compliance team runs strategic initiatives across its pan-European network to minimise environmental impact and promote circular economy practices. As Sustainability Data & Operations Manager, you will handle the day-to-day execution, validation and maintenance of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting, working with data analysts, engineering teams and senior compliance leads.

Key responsibilities

• EPR data validation and quality control: run routine data checks on reporting tools (e.g. Databricks, BI dashboards), flag anomalies and work with analysts to keep PRO submissions accurate.
• Support PRO operations: coordinate communication, reporting schedules and administrative filings with PROs across European markets, and help with contract renewals, documentation collection and tendering.
• Audit preparation: compile evidence, prepare data samples and organise audit trails for annual EPR and sustainability audits.
• Eco-modulation workflows: collect product and packaging attributes and supplier certificates, and map data points into reporting templates to capture cost savings.
• Map operational data requirements: turn EPR regulations and reporting templates into inputs and tracking sheets for technical teams.
• Monitor regulatory updates: track country-specific reporting changes, deadlines and fee revisions across Europe.

Required profile

• Practical experience with EPR compliance, waste stream reporting (packaging, textiles or WEEE) or product compliance across European markets.
• Comfortable working with structured datasets and reporting interfaces such as BI dashboards, Excel/Google Sheets or data querying platforms like Databricks.
• Organised and dependable, able to manage recurring deadlines and cross-team requests.
• Understanding of PRO fee structures, tariff categories and eco-modulation fee adjustments.
• Clear communication with external service providers and collaboration with logistics, commercial and data analytics teams.
