Training and Development Specialist II – SOF Planner

About the role

The Training and Development Specialist II provides subject‑matter expertise for Special Operations Forces (SOF) planning within the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) in Hohenfels, Germany. The role focuses on designing, coordinating and delivering realistic exercise scenarios that integrate SOF and conventional forces, ensuring interoperability and readiness for multinational operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and integrate exercise scenarios, orders, and battlefield injects that replicate real‑world SOF operations.
• Write doctrinally correct WARNOs, OPORDs, FRAGOs and complex target packets for joint training rotations.
• Manage master events lists and coordinate SOF force involvement throughout the Joint Exercise Life Cycle.
• Serve as SOF Scripter during exercise execution, adjusting events in real time to meet training objectives.
• Assess operational readiness of SOF and conventional units and provide technical guidance to JMRC planners.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a SOF subject‑matter expert or planner in a multinational training environment.
• Strong knowledge of joint and service doctrine, warfighting functions and TTPs.
• Ability to produce accurate warning, operations and fragmentary orders.
• Experience coordinating complex, multi‑national exercise events and assessing unit readiness.
